About Life Church Hackbridge

We're all about enjoying and sharing life in Jesus. God has given us a vision of being a healthy and growing gospel-centred church in Hackbridge, enjoying and sharing the abundant life that Jesus gives with the thousands of precious people here who are created in God's image. By God’s grace we desire to worship God and enjoy Jesus passionately, to love the church wholeheartedly, and to serve our neighbours generously.

We are a contemporary Anglican church made up of people from a wide variety of backgrounds, ages and stages, who have chosen to call Life Church their home. Whether you have been a Christian for years or are considering Jesus for the first time, we would love you to come and gather with us!

Our Leadership

Jonny Burgess

Revd Jonny Burgess is the Minister of Life Church Hackbridge. He and his wife Beth have two girls, Clemmie and Sophia, and a son, Kit, and would love a dog one day soon. They helped plant Life Church Hackbridge from Christ Church Balham out of a desire to see a healthy and growing gospel-centred church, where people could enjoy and share the life of Jesus.  Their passion is to live out 1 Thessalonians 2:8: "we loved you so much, we were delighted to share with you not only the gospel of God but our lives as well".

What we believe

We are a Christian church in the Reformed and Anglican tradition.

We are Evangelical

We believe the Bible is God’s written word. It is our first and final word on all matters of belief and behaviour. We are convinced that God’s word is the way God’s work is carried out in God’s world. The Bible is powerful to save and sanctify people.

Our ministry is word-saturated. We love to have the Bible read and proclaimed. Throughout the life of our church we open up God’s word so that we hear his voice. God is an amazing communicator. His words reveal truths that our hearts long to hear.

We can't hear or understand what God says without his Spirit's help. So we depend utterly on him to fill us, gift us and equip us for the lives of faith and obedience that he calls us to.

We are Anglican

Life Church Hackbridge is part of the Anglican Mission in England (AMiE). This is a growing fellowship of orthodox Anglican churches who are passionate about gospel mission. We are committed to the interdependence of local churches and to receiving oversight from godly bishops.

AMiE is part of the Gafcon movement. This is a network of biblical Anglicans from across the world. It is beautifully diverse and wonderfully united in orthodox, historic Christian truth. Our Gafcon connections enable us to learn from, be encouraged by and contribute to the global church.

Anglicans are committed to the teachings summarised in the 39 Articles and the Jerusalem Statement and Declaration. Not all members of our church family are Anglican by conviction or background, and you don’t need to be to feel at home. However, our Minister is an Anglican by conviction.
